Cited sources play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the information presented in a profile. These sources are publicly available information collected from around the web and are used to support key highlights.
By providing transparency in sourcing, cited sources ensure that profile information remains reliable and verifiable. These sources are carefully selected to ensure that they contribute meaningful and relevant insight about a person or company. Each cited source typically includes:
-
A summary of the source
-
An explanation of why it was chosen as a reference
How Are Cited Sources Used in Highlights?
When viewing highlights about a person (or company), each notable piece of information is backed by a cited source. These citations appear as footnotes, allowing users to verify the information’s origin, which you can review.
Where Can You Find Cited Sources?
Cited sources can be accessed in two locations within a profile. All sources are condensed by default but you can expand all to see all sources.
-
In-Line with Highlights – When reading profile highlights, cited sources appear as footnotes. Clicking on a footnote provides direct access to the referenced source.
-
Under cited sources or the sources page – A consolidated list of all cited sources used throughout the profile is available at the bottom of each profile or by pressing Manage All Sources. This allows users to review the full list of references used in the profile's creation on a dedicated page, ex. https://distill.fyi/c/Distill/sources
